Boys & Girls Clubs of Tracy History

In 1989, a group of citizens worked together to start the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tracy. Dick Hastie headed a group of community volunteers to bring the Boys & Girls Club program to Tracy. “This project began, when there were less than 20,000 people that lived in Tracy. This group of visionaries knew of problems in town such as latch key kids, and teens not having anything constructive to do in town. This was the start of the Boys & Girls Clubs coming to Tracy” says current Executive Director, Kelly Wilson. “We are so thankful that this group of caring citizens and the Tracy School District made our clubs a reality. We still have caring citizens that not only help keep the Lowell Clubhouse open but have helped us to open five clubhouses in Tracy,” says Wilson. “We have helped a lot of kids through the years,” says Dick Hastie and that has been the mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tracy throughout our history.
